Welcome to the new school year! We are excited to be #TogetherAgain with our students and staff! Our staff are excited to have the students back in the building five days a week! We understand that there may be some challenges, but I am certain that our community, families, staff and students will face them head-on.
We have made our school schedule and staff assignments to meet the needs of our students. We recognize that last school year was challenging for students. Our staff are prepared to assist all of our children to gain any skills which students may be lacking. Our staff are ready to bridge any learning gaps and to accelerate student learning to help all students meet with success!
We are piloting a new math curriculum this year called Illustrative Math. This program focuses on student learning through discovery and hands-on manipulatives. Our teachers have been participating in professional development on how to implement this new program from staff at the University of Delaware.
We are continuing to use the Bookworms reading curriculum. This program provides our students with foundational reading skills and exposes them to grade level text. Our goal at Blades Elementary is to teach our students to read fluently and to develop a love of reading!
